In many parts of the world, dog and cat meat are still consumed. Although the practice of eating dog and cat meat has existed in China for centuries, the Yulin Festival was recently created in 2009 to legitimize the Dog & Cat Meat Trade. Similarly, South Korea has the festival of Boknal, which seeks to protect and validate the consumption of dog and cat meat. Many other countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines and Peru also have dog or cat meat consumption practices.
The Animals' Battalion is opposed to the consumption, use and exploitation of ALL ANIMALS. We believe that humanity does not move towards veganism when yet even more animals are added to the list of those who are eaten. In the case of companion animals, those who share our homes and are our family members - when they are consumed - the illogicality and mental disconnect of eating animals becomes worse.
The Animals' Battalion stands in solidarity with all activists who are fighting to ban and stop the consumption of dog and cat meat within the countries where it occurs.
