Far too many activists will put on a shirt and pick up a sign before reading a book or watching a documentary. While the sentiment is appreciated, the battles that must be waged to defend animals' interests will not be won with emotions alone. Many aspects of animals rights such as outreach, lobbying and even rescue itself requires the advocate to be fully versed in a particular issue.
Activism without education is meaningless. To be truly effective for animals, advocates must be a hybrid of scholars and warriors. To that end, the Animals' Battalion periodically hosts screenings that tie into our campaigns and we bring in speakers that are highly knowledgeable in their particular field.
